Information We Collect
We collect “personally identifiable information”, meaning information that could be used to identify you individually (such as your email address or IP address), to provide you with products and services we make available through the Service, to communicate with you, and to manage your registered account.
Information Collected Upon Registration
If you would like to contribute any content to our Web Site, you will be required to become a registered member, as well as submit personally identifiable information to the Service. This happens in a number of instances, such as when you sign up as a registered member, or if you desire to receive marketing materials and information. Personally identifiable information that we collect in such instances may include your IP address, email address, user name, password and other optional information you elect to provide to us in your profile. Providing additional information beyond what is required at registration is entirely optional, but enables you a fuller experience on the Service.
If you use a third party service, such as Facebook Connect, for signing into the Service, we may collect personal data, such as your user ID, name, e-mail address, profile picture/avatar that are available in your public profile with the third party service you use for signing into the Service. We may also share, with your approval, the information that you “liked” an item or started following a blog on your Facebook timeline. The Service may also include a “Find friends from Facebook” feature which enables you to find other users of the Service that you have as Facebook friends.
You may access your profile on the Service to update or correct information you have provided us, or request that we deactivate your account and remove your personally identifiable information from our active databases by emailing us to deactivate account. In the case of deactivation, we will remove your personally identifiable information as soon as is reasonably possible in accordance with our deactivation policy and applicable law. We retain in our files information that we deem necessary to resolve disputes, troubleshoot problems or enforce our Terms of Service Agreement. Additionally, your information is never completely removed from our databases due to technical and legal constraints, including backup storage.
We may also place tracking pixels in the Service. A tracking pixel is a transparent graphic image that is placed on a web page and, in combination with a cookie, allows for the collection of information regarding the use of the web page that contains the tracking pixel.
We may use API keys of third-party software to authenticate the user to us.
Google Analytics is an element of the Service. By using cookies, Google Analytics collects and stores data such as time of visit, pages visited, time spent on each page of the website, the Internet Protocol address, and the type of operating system used in the devices used to access the Service. By using a browser plugin http://www.google.com/ads/preferences/plugin/ provided by Google, you can opt out of Google Analytics.
We may also use the analytics software service providers to provide us with statistical information related to your use of the Service, including, but not limited to, Mixpanel, Quantcast and comScore.
Use of Information We Collect
We may use your personal account information to operate, maintain, customize and personalize your experience with the Service based on your individual usage habits, improve our marketing and promotional efforts, analyze site usage, improve our content and product offerings, and customize our site’s content, layout and the website. We also use the information we collect about you to resolve disputes, troubleshoot problems, and enforce our Terms of Service Agreement.
We may engage certain trusted third parties to perform functions and provide services to us, including without limitation hosting and maintenance, customer relationship, database storage and management, and marketing. We may share your personal account information with them, but only to the extent necessary to perform these functions and provide such services, and only pursuant to binding contractual obligations requiring such third parties to maintain the privacy and security of your information. We may use your email address to send you notifications regarding the Web Site and new services we think you may find valuable.
