Onion chutney is a staple in many a South Indian\’s home, to be served with either dosas or idlis along with coconut chutney and sambhar. It is a blend of spicy red chillies with roasted onions, garlic and tamarind along with some spices.This unique chutney was first introduced to me at a South Indian restaurant in Delhi a few years ago. My version is an attempt to bring that flavor to my home and my family seems to love it and do not miss that restaurant chutney any more!!!
Onion (white or red) : 2 large, choppedGarlic : 1 big clove, choppedKashmiri red chilli powder : 2 tspCoriander powder : 1 tbspJeera powder : 1 tspTomato: 1 small, choppedTamarind paste : 1/2 tsp (or a small piece of tamarind)Salt to tasteOil : 2 tbsp
