Mango Dal is a simple Dal cooked with raw green Mangoes usually during the hot hot summer months in India. When its so hot and humid outside, this light and tangy dal is an absolute go-to accompaniment for steamed rice or rotis. I usually eat this dal as a soup and its one of my favorites.
Ingredients:
½ cup red lentil or masoor daal
½ cup yellow lentil or toor dal
1 raw green mango, peeled and chopped to bite size
2 tbs ginger, finely grated
1/2 cup cilantro, finely chopped
2/3 green chilies, slit half
1 tsp turmeric
Salt
For Tempering:
1 tbs ghee/clarified butter or olive oil
2/3 dry chilies
1 tbs cumin seed
2 tsp hing/asafotida
Few curry leaves
