Bonda soup is a very popular appetizer available in most of the darshinis (small eatery places) and fast food joints in Karnataka.
The dish is nothing but Bonda (Urad dal fritters) dunked in a spicy soup made out of moong dal 🙂 A simple yet mouthwatering delicious appetizer 🙂
Ingredients:
For the Bonda / pakoda:
Urad Dal – 2 cups
Green chillies – 2 to 3 – chopped finely
Ginger – 1 inch piece – chopped finely
Peppercorns – 1 tsp
Salt – to taste
Oil – for deep frying
For the Soup:
Moong Dal – 3/4 cup
Cumin Seeds – 1 tsp
Peppercorns or pepper powder – 1 tsp
Green chillies – 2 to 3 – chopped finely
Ginger – 1/2 inch – chopped finely
Tomato – 1 – chopped finely
Asofoetida – a pinch
turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
Salt – to taste
Oil or Ghee – 2 tsp
Water – 1.25 cup
